Charles Richard O'Hara, 76 year old Paden, OK resident, formerly of Weatherford, was born February 22, 1946, in Elk City, OK to John Anderson and Anna Faye (Clapp) O'Hara and passed away, Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at home in Paden, OK, at the age of 76 years and 16 days.

Richard was born February 22, 1946, in Elk City, OK to John Anderson and Anna Faye (Clapp) O'Hara and passed away, Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at home in Paden, OK.  Richard was second of four boys in his family.  They grew up on a cotton and livestock farm east of Elk City. The hard work on the farm gave them the motivation and determination to excel and work hard in life.  In his high school years, he played football, basketball and baseball and was an all-around athlete and an all-stater in all three sports.  Richard graduated from Elk City High School in 1964.  He enrolled at SWOSU where he played basketball and baseball for the Bulldogs all four years, making several championship honors and was inducted into SWOSU Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.  On October 3, 1969, he married Melva Kimble in Ft. Sill, OK and made their home in Elk City, OK. Richard earned his Bachelor degree in 1968 from SWOSU, his Master's in 1971 from SWOSU, and Superintendent Certificate in 1981 from O.S.U.  His 40-year working career was made in education from coaching, Principal, Adjunct Professor, Superintendent and served on many boards.  He enjoyed retirement and spending time with his grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: https://central-oklahoma-camp-conference-center.snwbll.com/give-the-gift-of-camp-3 .  #oharastrong

Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Melva O'Hara of their home in Paden, OK; one son, C.R. O'Hara of Cheyenne, WY; two daughters, Gina Kardokus and husband, Matt of Weatherford, OK and Nikki Witt of Jenks, OK; one brother, Tommy O'Hara and wife, Diane of Sentinel, OK; sister-in-law, Saundra Boardman and husband, Duane of Edmond, OK; and nine grandchildren, Kolton Kardokus and wife, Haley, Keaton Kardokus and wife, Lori, Kinzie Kardokus, Jaxon Witt, Lanie Witt, Walker Witt, Cagney O'Hara, Calvert O'Hara and Rhett O'Hara. He was loved by many nieces, nephews, teachers, former students and players.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John B. and Ronnie O'Hara.
