Wayne Willard Davis was born October 7, 1927, in Galita, Kansas to David and Lena (Hester) Davis and made his journey to heaven on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Weatherford Regional Hospital, at the age 91 years, 1 month, and 21 days.
Wayne proudly served in the US Merchant Marines from 1945-1948 as an active Seaman assigned to Military Transports and Freight Ships. He answered the US Army call to duty in 1950 where he was assigned to the 28 th Infantry Company Tank Battalion as a tank driver in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952. Wayne returned home to Kansas where he met and married Donna Schreiber in 1953. He was a heavy equipment operator for Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Company for twenty-three years, transferring to Weatherford in 1976 and retiring in 1983.
Wayne was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Weatherford. He was a loving husband, father, coach, gardener, and fishing and hunting mentor to daughter, Kyle Davis and son, Kurt Davis.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 65 years, Donna Davis of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; daughter, Kyle Davis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son, Kurt Davis of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; sister, Kay Ree Johnson and husband, Larry; brother, Albert Davis; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Davis; and five brothers, Arnold, Evan, Richard, Russell and Emerson.
