Funeral: 10:00 PM Thursday, February 26th, 2015First Baptist Church

Funeral services for Vernon Walter Miller, 74 year-old Weatherford resident, will be held Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of Weatherford with Pastor Earl Stephenson and Tony Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Vernon was born November 12, 1940 in Higgins, Texas to Walter Frank Miller and Wilma (Farnsworth) Miller and passed away on February 21, 2015 at Integris Grove Hospital in Grove, Oklahoma. He was raised in Higgins, Texas and moved to Woodward during high school where he graduated in 1959. He joined the Navy and served for four years on the destroyer U.S.S. Kidd. After the military, he started working for Southwestern Bell in the Oklahoma City area and moved to Weatherford in the late 60s. On September 28, 1974 he married Sandy (Leppke) Miller, and they made their home in Weatherford. He continued working for Southwestern Bell for 33 years and retired in June of 1997. After retirement, he worked as a Contractor in Telecommunications. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weatherford and was baptized during the summer of 1991. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, dominoes, playing cards, reading, and history. Memorials may be made to Stage 4 Life, stage4life.com, P.O. Box 892241, Oklahoma City, OK 73189.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Sandy Miller of the home; his mother, Wilma Holman of Woodward, Oklahoma; two sons, Mark Miller and wife, Richelle of Yukon, Oklahoma and Chad Miller and wife, Renee of Hydro, Oklahoma; two daughters, Molly Peters and her husband, Chris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Jennie Morgan of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one sister, Yvonne Wreath of Mutual, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Mary Leppke of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and ten grandchilden. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Miller; step-father, Ray Holman; and brother-in-law, Leroy Wreath.
