Graveside services for Vernon Joseph Jack Elder, 92 year-old former Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Monday, August 7, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery with David Lawrence officiating. Services are under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Jack was born August 17, 1924, in Tuttle, Oklahoma to Thomas Sterling and Ivy (Givens) Elder and passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the VA Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. Jack was raised in Tuttle and later moved to Farmington, Arkansas. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1942. Jack attended college at the University of Arkansas and later transferred to Oklahoma State University graduating in 1948. On December 3, 1949, he married Violet Marguerite Jardot in Perry, Oklahoma. He taught Agriculture and FFA in Geary, Lamont, Freedom, Elk City, and Weatherford where he retired in 1984. In 2005, Marguerite passed away. Jack moved to Tulsa in April of 2009 when he married Irene (Cauffield) Mapes. He was currently living in Norman to be near his family. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, watching sports especially OSU. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Jackie Elder of Norman, Oklahoma; two sons, Brad Elder and wife, Connie of Hinton, Oklahoma and Pat Elder and wife, Charlotte of Cushing, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Marguerite and Irene; five brothers, Cliff, Alton, Ivan, Tom and Jim; and two sisters, Ola and Ali.
