Verla Mae Buie was born June 30, 1929 in Eakly, Oklahoma to Fred and Ethel (Bond)Moore and passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Verla was raised and attended school in Eakly. On December 7, 1946, Verla marred L. Dean Buie and they made their home southeast of Eakly where she worked alongside her husband on the family farm, milking cows, hoeing crops and drove an 801 Ford Tractor that her son, Jim still owns today. Verla was dedicated to working alongside her husband on the family farm, only putting her foot down to not move the Irrigation Pipe, which was the one thing she would not do. In 1958, they moved into Eakly where she helped at the public school by substituting. Verla enjoyed her grandchildren, Colony Jamboree and music. Memorials may be made to Methodist Church of Eakly, Eakly Fire Department.

Verla is survived by her two sons, Jim Buie and his wife Darla of Carnegie, Oklahoma; and Terry Buie and his wife Twila of Ft. Cobb Lake, Oklahoma; one sister, Lila McDaniel and her husband Duane of Logan, New Mexico; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren with two on the way, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband L. Dean Buie, her parents, her step-dad Elmer Dowty, and three brothers, L.T Moore, Archie Moore, and one in infancy.
