Verdella Elizabeth Slagell was born February 2, 1938, in Thurman, CO to John Albert and Elizabeth (Rediger) Fahndrich and passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon, OK, at the age of 84 years and 11 days.

Verdella was raised and attended school in the Albany, OR area and graduated from Western Mennonite School in Salem, OR in 1957.  She did volunteer work.  On December 21, 1962, Verdella married Maxton Slagell in Albany, OR and made their home in Hydro, OK.  During her working career she worked as a cook, did baby-sitting, worked in a day care and also at Maple Lawn Manor.  Verdella enjoyed doing word find puzzles, embroidering and volunteering at the Et Cetera Shop.  She and Maxton visited prisons doing their ministry.

Verdella is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Slagell and wife, Lori of Cordell, OK and Philip Slagell and wife, Claudia of Amarillo, TX; two daughters, Verla Shaffer and husband, Martin of Topeka, KS and Joanna Nagelhout and husband, Brad of Lebanon, TN; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Dale and Richard; and one sister, Muriel.
