Thelma Yvonne Romero was born on April 6, 1927, in Briartown, Oklahoma to O. and Wilma (Reid) Hilton and passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023, in Corn, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 29 days.

Thelma was raised on the farm in Briartown until the family moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1945. Thelma attended Weatherford High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. She attended Southwestern Beauty College after high school and began cutting hair. Thelma and her twin sister, Velma, opened a beauty shop which they operated together for over 40 years. In June of 1979, she married David "Chico" Cerilo Romero in Weatherford where they made their home.  Thelma loved cooking and enjoyed sharing all of her recipes with family and friends. She was a longtime member of Grace Assembly of God Church.

Thelma is survived by her husband, David Romero, of their home in Weatherford; three sons, Maurice Wade and wife, Rhonda, Dennis Wade, and Mark Wade and wife, Joann; five grandchildren, Jennifer Robinson, Devin Husted, Jeffery Wade, Matt Wade, and Chesney Snyder; as well as ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Desmond Hilton; and two sisters, Flora Tye and Velma Atkinson.
