Obituary

Funeral services for Thelma Louise Kimble Lyles, 94 year old former Hydro, OK resident, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday August 21, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Hydro with Dave Jobe officiating. Burial will follow in the Hydro Masonic Cemetery, north of Hydro, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford, OK.

Thelma was born on April 17, 1919, outside of Hydro, OK, the daughter of John and Cleo Kimble and went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2013 in Dallas Texas.

Thelma was a devoted Baptist, mother, and grandmother who loved her Lord, cherished her family, and was proud of her Oklahoma roots. She loved to tell stories of growing up on the farm and of her family life. Thelma participated in many community and service activities in her adult home of Oklahoma City, including Big Sisters, the Oklahoma Hospitality Club, the PTA, and her churches, first the Trinity Baptist Church, and later, the Putnam City Baptist Church. She relocated to Dallas, TX in 2005, where she attended the Willow Bend Church in Plano, TX. She quickly became a favorite in her apartment complex and with her new Texas friends.

Thelma was an encourager and had a real sense of wit and purpose. She connected with people in a special way, and they were always immediately comfortable with sharing their concerns and found comfort in her positive attitude and Christian testimony. Sewing, reading her Bible, cooking, and spending time with her family were her favorite activities. She will be missed so much by all who loved her.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to the Willow Bend Church, 5701 Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093 (www.willowbendchurch.org) or to the charity of your choice.

Thelma is survived by her son, Boyd Lyles, Jr. MD; her sister, Virginia Frazier; grandson, Blake Lyles; granddaughter, Alicia Lyles Durst; two great grandchildren, Ava and Abraham; and numerous nieces and nephews from the Kimble family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-seven years, Boyd Lyles, Sr.; and her brothers: Woodrow, Floyd, and Leroy Kimble.
