Susan Kay Silverman was born in Thomas, Oklahoma to Ira Bill and Verna Mae (Lanier) Whitfield on April 3, 1955. She passed away in Oklahoma City on July 12, 2026 at the age of 71.

Susan was raised in Eakly and attended school there and later got her GED. She met Larry Dowty and the they were married in 1970. They spent the next 10 years, raising their 2 sons - Kendall and Dustin - together in Eakly. Susan then moved to Thomas and Weatherford. She met Ray Silverman and they spent over 30 years together.

Susan went to school to become an RN in the 1980s and worked in several hospitals, including the VA, as well as the health center in Weatherford and many doctors offices. Over the years, Susan attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford.

Some of Susan's favorite pastimes included swimming with her grandkids when they were little, going to the beach or Crowder lake, traveling with Ray - especially to visit her brother, Billy, in Austria and going to the casino with her girlfriends. She also enjoyed Jimmy Buffett and her beloved dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Lee Buckmaster; son, Dustin Dowty; sister, Jaleeta Wilson and husband, Eddie; sister, Claudia Hornbeck and husband, Bud; brother, Billy Whitfield and wife, Dagmar; and her beloved Grandma Lanier.

Susan is survived by her son, Kendall Dowty; grandchildren, Alex Dowty and wife, Courtney, Lauren Dowty, Katelyn Dowty, Devon Dowty, Ashton Dowty, Ethan Dowty; great-grandchildren, Hazel and Henry Dowty; daughter-in-law, Alyssa Willson; former husband, Larry Dowty and his wife, Rita; and former husband, Ray Silverman,

A graveside service for Susan will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 and the family will recieve guests and share memories from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
