Obituary

Louis Wayne Vincent was born in Hydro, Oklahoma to George Louis and Helen "Bernice" (Foreman) Vincent on July 15, 1943. He passed away at his home in Hydro on September 8, 2026 at the age of 83.

Though he was known as "Sonny" or "Wayne" to many, those closest to him called him "Sonny Wayne". Born and raised in Hydro, he called it home his whole life. Sonny Wayne was baptized in 1955 at the First Christian Church of Hydro and graduated from Hydro High School with the class of 1961. After high school, he spent many years farming; a job and hobby he would enjoy his entire life.

Sonny Wayne met Becky Faulkner on November 9, 2000 and they were married on February 9, 2001 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a truck driver in the oil field for the first couple of years of their marriage but soon "retired" back to farming in the early 2000s.

In retirement, he enjoyed puzzles and reading but that certainly did not mean he quit working. Sonny Wayne stayed busy, there was always something to do on the farm and he took great pride in his land. He planned food plots and made duck ponds, cleared trees and built fence. Sonny Wayne also loved animals whether it be tending his chickens and cows or watching and feeding wildlife.

Spending time with his children and grandchildren was a cherished part of Papa Sonny's life. Some of his favorite memories were made trotlining, hunting, and spending time at the river. Hunting mushrooms as a family was a tradition he introduced to his children, one that has continued into another generation.

He was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was helping clean and process deer or spending time planning and preparing for the next hunt. Having his grandchildren around the property was a true highlight for Papa Sonny, and he treasured the time spent making memories with them. He also dedicated countless hours helping his grandson, Cade, with his pigs through FFA-always proud to be involved and willing to help in any way he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kary Vincent; and brothers-in-law, Arnold Boyd and Johnny Wilkenson.

Sonny Wayne is survived by his wife, Becky, of 25 years; daughter, Kristi Harris and her husband, Perry; daughter, Kimberly Rea; daughter-in-law, Denise; and grandchildren: Chance Vincent; Kara Vincent and her partner, Blaine Slagell; Makayla South and her husband, Richard and their daughter on the way; Madison Parham, her husband, Greg, and their son, Rhett; Zane Tilson and his daughter, Gwen; Sara Tilson; and Cade Rea and his partner Emma Haupert. He is also survived by his sister, Corrine Boyd, her sons, Aaron and David Boyd, and their families.

Memorial donations may be made to Hydro First Responders.
