Obituary

Sharon Kaye (Rubrecht) Pratt was born to Ed and Mary Lee McGaha Rubrecht on November 3, 1947 in Bakersfield, California. She passed away, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the age of 71 years, 3 months, and 24 days.

Growing up she, her parents and her siblings, Barbara (Bobbie), Carolyn, and Johnny lived in California, Louisiana, Canada finally settling in Loco, Oklahoma.

She attended Loco High School and graduated in 1965. After graduation she married Robert Lynn Pratt. They made their home in Duncan, Oklahoma, and eventually moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma. In that time her two children, LeaAnne and Robbie were born.

While in Weatherford Sharon became heavily involved with the South West Oklahoma Development Agency (SWODA) and with Opportunities, Incorporated. She worked for many years with Opportunities as the Head Start Center Director in Weatherford, and eventually went on to become a federal Head Start Reviewer for Danya International.

Advocating for children was a passion for Sharon. She enjoyed helping families succeed and finding ways to better their lives. She loved her co-workers and thought of them as family.

Even after she had to retire due to complications with rheumatoid arthritis, she still continued to help children, this time it was her own. In their world she was known simply as "Nene."
Nene adored every one of her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them in any capacity.

She loved her family, and she would quickly draw someone in and claim them as family. She enjoyed time together in any endeavor, but especially she loved the holidays. Watching her family open Christmas presents and spend time together at Thanksgiving were high points in her life.

She was a talented seamstress and cook.
