Obituary

Sebastian "Sam" Martinez Pantoja, 76, of Edmond, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on May 3, 2026.

Born on January 19, 1950, in Post, Texas, Sam lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, and love for others. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle, "Uelo," and friend. If you were blessed to know Sam, you knew him for his quick wit, warm heart, and unique ability to make everyone around him feel welcome and comfortable. These qualities became part of the lasting legacy he leaves behind as he entered the Kingdom of Heaven.

At a young age, he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam. Before leaving for service, he married the love of his life, Eva, beginning a lifelong partnership built on faith and devotion.

After his military service, Sam worked for AT&T as a Fiber Optics Technician until his retirement. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to serving both his family and others. He lived by the Army's core values of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. Guided by his faith in Jesus Christ, Sam taught these values daily through his actions, sacrifices, and unwavering love.

Sam touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. He taught all of us that life is not about ourselves, but about loving and serving others. Whether offering advice, lending a hand, or simply being present, Sam always put others before himself.

He had a deep passion for baseball and loved coaching young athletes, teaching them cooperation, determination, discipline, and hard work. Some of his greatest joy came from spending time with family, cooking Mexican food, working in the yard with his dogs by his side, and enjoying the simple blessings God had given him. To Sam, Mexican food wasn't just a meal; it was a family event, and once the craving hit, everyone knew the gathering was happening. He loved taking peaceful walks through the backyard each day, appreciating the life and family he cherished so deeply.

Sam is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Rossiter, and her children Victoria (Samuel) Wright, Zander, Jayden, and Izaac Rossiter; his son Samuel Pantoja, his children Alec Pantoja and Ailee (Chaipen) Nease, and their children Evalie, Brance, and Brex; and his son Matt (Alyssa) Pantoja, along with many other loving relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eva Pantoja; his parents, Candido and Pauline Pantoja; and his brothers, Albert Pantoja and Joe Pantoja.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with a family lunch beforehand at 12:00 PM.

Location: Thomas Methodist Church
