Sandra "Mimi"
Marie Musick
January 31, 1974 – January 14, 2025
Sandra Marie Musick, "Mimi", was born January 31, 1974, in Clovis, New Mexico, and passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at SSM Health – St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, at the age of 50 years, 11 months and 13 days.
Mimi was born with Down Syndrome… However, she was a tiny force to be reckoned with, right from the beginning.
Mimi was adopted at the age of 2 by her mother, Jeannie Musick, and joined a family with three brothers, Kevin, Keith, and Josh, and later a sister, Jessica. Mimi lived at home for 26 years where she was loved and adored by her family. She graduated high school and later joined an adult training program where she was popular with the teachers and students alike. After being told early on that she would never talk, walk, or show emotion, Mimi proved everyone wrong.
Mimi enjoyed the simplest of things—coloring and ripping books and magazines, playing with her dolls, blocks, brushing everyone's hair, and she loved to eat! She loved swimming, being involved with the Special Olympics, dancing, clowning around and even copying everyone else's habits to grab the center of attention. Mimi loved using her own version of sign language to communicate and managed to adapt to just about every roadblock that crossed her path. The highlights of her later days were going to the farm with "Yayee", riding in the pickup and the tractor, and listening to 60's music while eating cheetos.
Tiny but mighty, Mimi lived in her joy and taught us all unconditional LOVE in the purest of forms.
Mimi was preceded in death by her adoptive father, Mike Musick and her nephew, Keenan Musick.
Mimi is survived by her mother, Jeannie Musick and partner, Roger Prochaska; three brothers, Kevin Musick and wife, Sheri, Keith Musick and wife, Lacy and their children, Brodii, Eli, Noah and Ben, Josh Musick and wife, Kelsi and their children, Amaria, Maddox and Titus, and Jessica Christensen and husband, Shane and their children, Huyler, Given and Khyren.
Memorials in Mimi's name may be made to the National Down Syndrome Society at www.ndss.org.
