Sandra Kay Harris was born April 23, 1946, in Porterdale, Georgia to Wilson Franklin and Opal Vivian (Page) Boyd and left this earth on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Weatherford Regional Hospital, after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 72 years and 15 days.
Sandy was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who met her. Sandy was a gifted poet and writer who had her writings published in many periodicals and college newspapers. She could often be heard saying that her greatest accomplishments in life were her children who she was very proud of. Sandy was an incredibly giving person who, after settling in Sayre, Oklahoma in 1986, managed the Post Manor Lighthouse where she provided food, clothing, and shelter to those in need. She not only took care of their basic needs, but ministered to them and helped many change their lives. In addition Sandy ministered in the Beckham County jail reaching out to those fighting addiction and helping many find salvation and recovery.
In 1990, Sandy returned to school at SWOSU in Sayre. She was an honor student who earned her Associates Degree in Medical Technologies in 1992. Soon after she moved to Mangum, Oklahoma to work in the hospital. Though she loved her work, she was forced to retire due to medical issues.
Sandy moved to Van Horn Manor in Weatherford in 1999 and immediately began volunteering at the Pioneer Center and helping her neighbors. Sandy also gave of her time as a Bible study leader and constantly witnessed to anyone she came in contact with about her love of Jesus and her salvation.
Sandy was loved by many and most of all by her children and her fur baby, Amber Louise whom she loved with all her heart. She was a beautiful soul who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sandy is survived by her mother, Opal Boyd of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two brothers, Rick Boyd and wife, Rainee of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Travis Boyd and wife, Cindy of Lawrenceville, Georgia; three daughters, Belinda Graham and husband, Clint of Willow, Oklahoma, Briana Harris and wife, Dianne of Norman, Oklahoma, and Brandy Harris-Brooks and husband, Jack of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one son, Bobby Evans and fiancee` Tina Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandsons, Brandon Chapmond and fiancee`, Jackie Wilson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jordan Chapmond of Mangum, Oklahoma, and Ryan Levely and fiancee`, Amber Sager of Colombia, Mississippi, and granddaughter, Shaylee Osterholt and husband, Timmy of Colombia, Mississippi; great-grandson, Carson Osterholt of Colombia, Mississippi; and great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Osterholt of Colombia, Mississippi; and step-great-granddaughters, Allison and Rose Haugen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilson Franklin Boyd and her son, Billy O. Evans, Jr.
