Ruth Ethel
Mogg
September 29, 1922 – December 29, 2017
Ruth Ethel Mogg was born September 29, 1922 in Binger, Oklahoma to Taylor J. and Lizzie A. (Actkinson) Brown and passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years and 3 months.
Ruth was raised and lived her entire life in the northern part of Caddo County, Oklahoma and attended Hinton Schools.
Ruth married James L. "Jim" Mogg on May 23, 1942 in Walters, Oklahoma and they had two children; a daughter, Carol Ann who was born and passed in 1948 and a son, Jimmy Wayne who was born in 1949. Since 1945, Ruth lived in the house she and Jim built on Arapaho Street in Hydro, other than her time spent at Maple Lawn Manor. She was baptized May 4, 1952 at the First Christian Church in Hydro.
Ruth worked for Owl Photo in Weatherford, Oklahoma for 25 years and either worked full-time or part-time at every restaurant in Hydro between 1945 and 2000. She dearly loved being a waitress and has likely poured more cups of coffee in Hydro than anyone. In addition to the restaurants in Hydro, Ruth worked several years at the Porterhouse Restaurant in Weatherford. She then volunteered at Maple Lawn Manor where she assisted residents at meal time. Ruth was a very social person who enjoyed helping others.
Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family and relished family gatherings. Ruth was especially fond of children. She loved to spoil children and "Grandma Ruth" did a great job doing that for her two granddaughters. She helped with VBS at the First Christian Church in Hydro and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. Over the years she attended many little league and Hydro School activities. Ruth enjoyed dancing, the coffee shop, playing cards and dominos.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter; her sister, Ola Hotz; and her five brothers; Elmer, Othel, Jack, Delmer, and L.G. Brown.
Ruth is survived by her son, Jimmy Wayne Mogg and wife, Freda of Hydro, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Amy Weidner and husband, David of Flower Mound, Texas and Sarah Mogg of Arvada, Colorado; great-grandson, Jacob Weidner; great-granddaughter, Audrey Weidner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Hydro Fire Department/First Responders.
