Russell Van Alvis, 82 year-old Arapaho, Oklahoma resident, was born November 2, 1932, in Geary, Oklahoma to George and Mary (Pedigo) Alvis and passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at home in Arapaho, Oklahoma. Russell was raised in Geary and Weatherford area and graduated from Geary High School in 1950. After graduation he attended Southwestern State College for 6 years. Russell served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1956 to 1958. He returned to Weatherford and taught at Southwestern State College. Russell moved to Arapaho, Oklahoma in 1999. On June 9, 2000, Russell married Jackie Marts in Wheeler, Texas. He enjoyed playing on computers and spending time with his family. He was a blessing to our family by God Himself.

Russell is survived his wife, Jackie Alvis of their home in Arapaho, Oklahoma; one daughter, Jeanine Henson of Arapaho, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Roy Allen Henson and James Edward Weber; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Henson and JayLynn Louise Weber. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
