Obituary

Funeral: 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 21st, 2014Presbyterian Curch

Funeral service for Ruby Louise Capron, 89 year-old former Cowden resident, will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Colony Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Poage Cemetery northeast of Colony under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Ruby was born on February 9, 1925 in Colony, Oklahoma to Sidney and Freda (Klein) Taylor and passed from this life on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Corn Heritage Village of Weatherford, Oklahoma. Ruby was raised on the family farm northeast of Colony and attended school graduating from Colony High School in 1943. She attended Southwestern Normal School, which is now Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and graduated with a teaching degree.

On January 26, 1946, she married Loren S. Capron in Utica, New York. They made their first home in upstate New York where she taught school. In 1954, they moved back to Oklahoma and made their home northeast of Cowden, Oklahoma where they farmed for several years. Ruby continued teaching for a few years at Colony and then decided to farm alongside her husband. Ruby and Loren were members of the Alfalfa Methodist Church.

The greatest joy of Rubys life was her family. She loved spending time at the family gatherings. Loren and Ruby enjoyed traveling and playing cards with friends. She enjoyed game shows, bowling and reading.

Ruby is survived by one son, Darell Capron and his wife, Ronine of Colony, Oklahoma; three daughters, Janice Smith and her husband Wayne of Colony, Oklahoma, Donna Schwartz and her husband Larry of Weatherford, OK, and Barbara Roddam of Colony, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Chad Smith and wife, Desiree` of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Brandon Smith and wife, Robyn of Colony, Oklahoma, Sharra Smith and husband, Drew of Moore, Oklahoma, Wesley Klein and girlfriend, BeCka of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mandy Horn and husband, Dakota of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Kristi Roddam Crawford of Colony, Oklahoma, Kayla Yandell and husband, Glenn of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Lori Exinia and husband, Brian of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, S.R. and Freda Taylor; husband, Loren; one sister, Beulah; and two sisters-in-law, Irene and Janet.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Corn Heritage Village of Weatherford for their loving care of Ruby.

As one of her grandchildren so loving said, Grandma went to sleep with Janice and Wayne by her side and woke up next to Grandpa Loren!
