Funeral services for Ronald Dale Fenter, 79 year-old Oklahoma City, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, January 16, 2015, 11:00 A.M. in the Blanchard Church of Christ with Roger Hill officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain View, Oklahoma under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Ron was born May 16, 1935, in Gotebo, Oklahoma to Otis and Theresa (Laird) Fenter and passed away Monday, January 12, 2015, at the Norman Specialty Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. Ron was born the youngest of four children to hardworking share croppers. He spent much of his childhood working in the cotton fields of southwest Oklahoma. Ron attended school at Lake Valley and Mountain View, graduating from Mountain View in 1953. He was captain of the football team. Upon graduating he began his service with the military serving as a member of the United States Army. On December 25, 1954, he was united in marriage to Minnie Laura Upfold. To this union two daughters were born, Debbie Ronine and Tanya Renee. Ron and Minnie made their home in Blanchard, Oklahoma and he began his employment with the Federal Aviation Administration. Ron retired in 1990 with 32 years and 7 months of service to FAA.
Ron became a Christian on July 21, 1948 and faithfully served his Lord. He worked many years with the Blanchard Church of Christ serving as both a Deacon and Elder over the years. After retirement he began work in the prison ministry working with those he felt despertly needed to know Gods love and mans love. In later years Ron worshipped with the Colony Church of Christ and Southwest Church of Christ in Oklahoma City.
On January 31, 2004 Ron married Dorotha Ann Dalke and they made their home in south Oklahoma City. Ron and Dot enjoyed in traveling and antiquing.
The most important things in Rons life were serving his Lord and his family. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his lifelong friend, Eldo Roddy.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Minnie; one brother, Otis Fenter, Jr.; and two sisters, Mabel Monroe and Nadine Stout. He is survived by his wife, Dorotha Fenter of their home; two daughters, Ronine Capron and husband, Darell of Colony, Oklahoma and Tanya Minson and husband, David of Lubbock, Texas; two bonus children, Michael Orrick and wife, Amy and Shreta Horn all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Mandy Horn and husband, Dakota, Kayla Yandell and husband, Glenn, Lori Exinia and husband, Brian, Elise Fleming and husband, David, and Ellen Adair and husband, Lee; with three bonus grandchrildren, Sarah and Georgia Orrick and Jason Horn; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor and Zoey Horn, Austin Yandell, Skylar Exinia, Lexi and Brayleigh Fleming and Tori and Miles Adair; and two bonus great-grandchildren, Andrew and Madelyn Horn.
Memorial may be made to the Blanchard Church of Christ or your local congregation.
