Funeral service for Robert Max "Cotton" Leonard, 94 year-old Weatherford, OK resident, will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Margo Vestal officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Robert was born on November 1, 1923 northwest of Weatherford, Oklahoma to Vann and Leta (Alkire) Leonard and passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 in Weatherford, OK. He was raised northwest of Weatherford and attended Union Rural School and Weatherford Public School, graduating with the Class of 1942. On September 1, 1945 he married Mildred Slemp and they made their home in Weatherford. He worked as a dirt contractor, building dams, terraces, and numerous other projects before retiring in 1977. He enjoyed spending time playing bridge and dominoes, fishing, and hunting quail and pheasant. Memorials may be made to Great Plains Family YMCA in Weatherford.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mildred Leonard of the home; two sons, Gary Leonard and wife Cheryl of Weatherford, OK, and Terrell Leonard of Clinton and close friend Leisa Fox; three sisters, Margaret Goucher of Weatherford, Norma Dirickson of Elk City, OK and Dixie Gilworth of Weatherford, OK; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Nyle, Bruce, and Bill.
