Robert Eugene Little was born on November 24, 1931 in Roger Mills County, near Strong City, Oklahoma to John and Lucille (Smith) Little and passed away on July 17, 2014 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Robert was raised on a farm north of Strong City and attended Spring Creek, Strong City, and Hammon schools and graduated in 1950 from Hammon High School.
After high school, Robert immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was an Air Policeman in the Korean War and served temporary duties in England and Africa. Bob was stationed at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California. He married Wanda Sears in 1952 and they made their home in Norman, Oklahoma. The couple had three daughters, Karen, Sherri, and Fran.
Robert attended the University of Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters Degree in Education. He also worked toward his Doctorate in Education from the University of Kansas. Throughout the years he was a Bob of all trades, beginning as an educator and counselor in Derby, Kansas. In 1966 Robert moved to Erick, Oklahoma where he was the high school principal and built the family home. And during the summers he owned and operated a commercial grain harvest operation. In 1971 he moved to Cheyenne to own and operate a Mobil consignee dealership for 7 years. Following this work Robert taught social and political sciences at Cheyenne High School. There Bob was a teacher for all three of his daughters. After teaching, he owned and operated his own truck for a lease operation, hauling oil field fluids and his radio call handle was BR549. After working in the oil field, Robert then began working for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and the State of Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitative Services as a counselor until he retired in 1996.
On July 14, 1990, Robert married Naida White and gained two daughters, Roxanne and Christine. Bob and Naida made their home in Thomas, Oklahoma. Robert was an avid communicator and never missed the opportunity to discuss economics, politics and all religious faiths with family and friends. He was a pilot and loved flying and spent several years flying his private plane. He tinkered with anything mechanical, especially his antique tractor, and loved watching OU football and the Oklahoma City Thunder. One of his favorite activities was to play dominoes with his parents and his family. In his early adult life, he was an excellent bowler, with an average score of 250, and played bridge. Robert spent many hours with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomas.
He is survived by his wife Naida of the home in Thomas, his daughters, Karen Little-Smith of Rogers, Arkansas; Roxanne and husband Steve Rymer of Clinton, Oklahoma; Sherri and husband Greg Moncrief of Camarillo, California; Fran West of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Christine and husband Lee Posey of Geary, Oklahoma. Three brothers, Murl and wife Marie Little of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; J.W. and wife Barbara Little of Strong City, Oklahoma and Loyd Lee of Oklahoma City, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
