Obituary

Rosary service for Robert "Bob" Eugene Sheik will be held the evening of Friday, February 9, 2018, 7:00 P.M. at Stahl-Miller Funeral Home in Newkirk, OK. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Newkirk, OK, 610 W. 9th Street, Newkirk, OK. Burial will follow at Newkirk Municipal Cemetery in Newkirk, OK.

Bob passed peacefully from this life on February, 5, 2018 at the age of 86 years. He was born on the family farm SW of Newkirk, Oklahoma on October 25, 1931, to Raymond Leo and Mary Louise Farnik Sheik.

Bob graduated from Newkirk High School in 1949 and served the United States with honor being attached to the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He and Jennie Katherine Hamand were married in 1953 at Newkirk, Ok. To this marriage four sons were born, Gregory, Eric, Vincent and Max.

Bob was employed by Farmers Cooperatives in Newkirk, Carmen, and Weatherford, Oklahoma during his working career. He worked on farms and in the farming industry his entire life.

His greatest joy was observing a child's resilience, curiosity and truthfulness. There was great joy interacting with the children. A "good" joke was always at hand to suit most occasions. He would qualify most monologues with "It's just B.S., short for Bob Sheik!" His sons will always remember him as being a devout Catholic, a good father, son, husband and grandfather who was always willing to help a family member accomplish any goal. One could always count on him to have an opinion on most subjects. He will be lovingly missed.

In 1985 he married Helen Fleming, who survives him. Together they shared the second-half of their lives on Helen's family farm south of Weatherford. Bob was always good to attend as many of his grandchildren's activities as he was able and delighted in helping Helen care for grandchildren entrusted to their care.  He was always willing and able to help on the farm when needed.

Bob is survived by sons, Greg & Janet Sheik, Carmen, OK; Eric & Cathy Sheik, Carmen, OK; Vincent & Janie Sheik, Blanchard, OK; Max & Kim Sheik, Las Cruces, N.M.; step-sons, Roger & Leslie Fleming, Weatherford, OK; Dean & Denise Fleming, Weatherford, OK; step-daughter, Rhonda & Mike O'Meara, Yukon, OK.: brothers, Kenneth & Janet Sheik, Newkirk, OK; Ervin Sheik, Ponca City, OK; sister-in-law, Carolyn & Larry Heath, Cordell, OK. The light of his life, his 14 grandchildren, his 16 great-grandchildren and soon to be born great-granddaughter.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Mary, brother Alfred, sister-in-law Sandra Sheik, mother and father-in-law John and Viola Best, sister- in-law Pauline Edmonds, and brother-in-law John Best.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
