Richard Lee Wood was born December 30, 1945, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Henry and Ruth Wood and returned to his heavenly home on October 13th, 2020 in Weatherford having reached the age of 74 years, 0months and 13 days.
He was the youngest of their six children and nicknamed "Dickie". The family moved to Pharr, Texas where he attended school. After school, he enlisted in the US Airforce and served seven years. Upon his return he worked for Western Oil Company as a mechanic.
On April 15 th , 1980 in Edinburgh, Texas he married his "Babe" Evelyn Mary and her four children. Richard and Evelyn split a ten-dollar bill in half and shared a secret pact. He carried his half everywhere he went even until his last day.In 1982, He and his family were transferred to Oklahoma where they made a home in Weatherford as he continued to work in Clinton for 30 years before his first retirement. He then worked for Alberts Truck as the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor.Richard played golf, did woodworking, played cards and grilled many meals for his family and friends.Richard was a faithful member and servant at Emmanuel Baptist Church. You could find him most Sunday mornings handing out donuts and candy to the children. He and a friend started a men's class at the church that grew into a large class of faithful men. He was quick to jump to help in any aspect of the church.Richard spent most of his spare time with his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, Papa and friend.
Richard is survived by his wife, Evelyn of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; two sons, Michael (Tabetha) Wilsher of Stafford, Virginia and Kevin (Nikki) Wilsher of Claremore, Oklahoma; two daughters, Meishel (Terrell) Fry of Yukon, Oklahoma and Cynthia Davis of Woodward, Oklahoma; one brother, Jack Wood of Rio Dosa, New Mexico, one sister, Jane Smith of Bandera, Texas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Don Wood; and one sister, Arlene Wood.
