Funeral services for Richard Lee Johnson, 92 year-old Thomas, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, March 24, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Thomas with Tommy Turner and Tim Billy officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Valley Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Thomas.

Richard was born September 11, 1924, in Thomas, Oklahoma to Charles and Blanche (Bender) Johnson and passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Elmwood Manor in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Richard was raised in Thomas, Oklahoma and graduated from Thomas High School. He attended Ok A & M for two years. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in France and Germany during the European Theatre. On April 23, 1948, he married Eva Jean Schou in Wichita, Kansas and made their home in Thomas. He owned and operated the First National Bank for 30 years. Richard was a Thomas volunteer fireman where he held the position of Chief for many years. He was an active participant in many community organizations: Rodeo Club, VFW, Mound Valley Cemetery Association, American Legion, and others. He also was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church. Richard enjoyed traveling, playing dominoes, table games, bridge, spending time with friends and family, and loved ranching and animals. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Richard is survived by two daughters, Marsha Yocum and husband, Randy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Pam Humphreys and husband, Doug of Holdenville, Oklahoma; one sister, Lucille Sweeney of Thomas, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one brother, Earl Lewis; and one grandson, Ryan Humphreys.
