Rachel Donie Thiessen was born on January 26, 1919, between Corn and Cordell, in Washita County Oklahoma to Gustav and Matilda Meget and passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2012, at the Corn Heritage Village Nursing Home in Corn, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years, 3 months, and 22 days.

Rachel was raised in the Corn, Bessie and Cordell area. She attended a rural school and helped on the family farm. She married Herbert Thiessen and they lived Southeast of Corn and she worked alongside her husband. She picked cotton, drove the tractor, milked cows, and fed the chickens. In 1958 she worked as a beautician at Wycoffs Beauty Shop and later at Mandys in Corn. She moved to Weatherford in 2007. She enjoyed bingo, fishing, grandchildrens activities, traveling to Texas in the winter and Colorado in the summer. She always enjoyed going with her family. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Rachel is survived by one daughter, Susan Brown and husband Dean of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and one son Terry Thiessen and wife Susan of Weatherford, Oklahoma, four grandchildren Jeff Thiessen and wife Angela, Traci Kidwell and husband Eric, Robbye Brown and wife Heidi, and Mike Brown and wife Mylissa, and four great-grandchildren, Maicie Brown, Kelsi Thiessen, Tyler Brown, and Ryan Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, Gust, John, Pete, Leonard, and Rudy, nine sisters, Lydia, Marie, Margaret, Juanita, Martha, Selma, Tillie, Donnie, and Sadie, and two grandchildren, Stacey Deeann Brown and Todd David Brown.
