Preston Garrett Lay was born in Weatherford, Oklahoma on June 23, 1995 to Doice Eugene and Lamoine "Denise" (Hensley) Lay. He passed away in Oklahoma City on August 9, 2026 at the age of 31.

Preston was raised in Weatherford and was active Awana and Tiger Cubs in grade school. He played soccer and football for Weatherford High School, and graduated with the Class of 2014.

Preston loved going on family trips and Carnival Cruises. He loved spending time with his family, including grandparents and cousins. In the summers, he drove the combine during harvest time with his dad. Preston loved the family dogs, Macy and Butkus, WWE and going to the movies. He was a thrill seeker and wanted to ride the scariest rides at the Hydro Free Fair and Frontier City. The OU Sooners were Preston's favorite and he enjoyed tailgating during football season.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bob and Elda Lay and maternal grandparents, Gene and Markeeta Hensley.

Preston is survived by his parents, Doice and Denise Lay of Weatherford; brothers, Jody Lay of Hydro and Clayton Lay of Norman; sister, Aleesha Miller and her husband, Matt of Custer City; and his 3 nephews, Jacob, Conner and Mason Miller also of Custer City.
