Obituary

Phillip Ross "Phil" Lanier was born February 21, 1960, in Weatherford, the youngest of his 5 siblings, to Lloyd Udell and Norma Elizabeth (Hawkins) Lanier and passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, at his home in Weatherford, at the age of 64 years and 2 days.

Phil was raised and attended school in Weatherford, graduating with the Class of 1978.  On November 11, 1982, he married Penny Lynn Loar in Weatherford where they made their home.  In his younger years he worked in the oilfield, as a self-employed custom welder.  Phil was sick off and on for 18 years with kidney disease before he received a kidney transplant in 1997.  He was a 25-year kidney transplant survivor.  Phil loved to hunt and fish, camping with his family and just hanging out outdoors.  He will be remembered for his love of his family, especially his grandchildren and their activities or just coloring pictures with them.

Phil is survived by his wife of 42 years, Penny Lanier of their home in Weatherford; two daughters, Jade McDonald of Weatherford and Melinda Middleton and husband, Mark of Oklahoma City; one son, Ross Allen Lanier of Weatherford; one sister, Debbie Willis and husband, Tom of Weatherford; one brother, Bob Lanier and wife, Patti of Weatherford; and three grandchildren, Carter Reeb, Addilynn McDonald and Brenden McDonald.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Max Lanier and one in infancy, Larry; and one sister, Cindy Murray.
