Funeral service for Phil Joe Lucas, 83 year-old Claremore resident, will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Hydro. Burial will follow at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Monday, June 10, 2013 from 6-7 PM at Lockstone Funeral Home.

Phil was born on October 5, 1929 to Everett and Gladys (Springer) Lucas in Cordell, Oklahoma and passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was raised and attended school in Clinton, Oklahoma graduating from Clinton High School in 1947. He attended college for two years before he was drafted into military service and joined the United States Marine Corp in 1952. After serving in the Marines he returned to college and graduated in 1955. He married Phyllis Branam on June 11, 1955 in Clinton, Oklahoma. He worked for J.C. Penney for 35 years and relocated to Oklahoma City in 1972 where he lived and worked until retirement in 1995. He moved to Marlow in 1995 and Claremore in 2001. He enjoyed golf, bowling, snooker, baseball and gardening. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Phil is survived by one son, Chris Lucas of Claremore, Oklahoma; two daughters, Paula Potter of Terrell, Texas, and Darla & Bobby Akin of Claremore, Oklahoma; one sister, Sharon and Joe May of Hydro, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
