Obituary

Funeral: 10:00 AM Friday, May 3rd, 2013Pine Acres Church

Funeral services for Paul Edwin Swanson, 79 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in Pine Acres Church with Pastor Brian Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Paul was born June 8, 1933 in Groveton, Texas to Herman and Ethel (Swanson) Swanson and passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at Cox Health South in Springfield, Missouri. Paul was raised and attended school in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1953. His first job was a school bus driver. On May 17, 1952, he married Pat Harned and made their home in Lawton. Paul served for two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Lawton and worked as a butcher at Humpty Dumpty grocery store, which he later managed the meat department. In 1964, Paul and Pat moved to Weatherford where he also managed the local IGA/Humpty Dumpty meat department. For 12 years he worked as the janitor for the Weatherford High School and then retired. Paul enjoyed playing with his adopted grandchildren, going to the lake, fishing, playing horseshoes, watching football, driving transfer cars for Cummins, taking care of his own cars, grilling, and taking care of the yard. Memorials may be made to the Pine Acres Church.

Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat Swanson of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma and one granddaughter, Holland Swanson. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Herman, Dewayne, and LeRoy; two sons, Mike and Blake Swanson; and one granddaughter, Morgandee Swanson.
