Whenever there was a family in need, Opal organized help for them. She loved the town of Colony and the people there. Poor health forced her to move to Alterra Sterling Assisted Living Center in Weatherford where she lived until her passing.

Opal attended the Presbyterian Church in Colony and was made a child of the Lord at an early age.

Opal was never afraid of any challenge life brought hershe learned to cope by farming when Dee went to World War II. She did the butchering and cutting meat at the Payne Store in Colony, cooked delicious meals, sewed clothes for her family and made beautiful quilts plus raising, canning and buying her families food.
