Olen Lucian Dunnington went home to be with his savior on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at the age of 99 years, 7 months and 23 days. He was born July 21, 1921 on a farm nine miles northwest of Hydro, Oklahoma.
He grew up roaming and hunting the canyons of the South Canadian River. He rode a pony to school, milked cows, and worked the crops. He proudly served in WWII Navy Seabees from 1942-45, 18 months in the Aleutian Islands. In 1949, he met and married Peggy McLaughlin of Clinton, OK and were married 65 years. They moved to Pueblo, CO in 1953 where Olen worked at the Pueblo Army Depot until retirement in 1975. He and Peggy traveled frequently to see friends and family in several states. They loved camping and Olen was an avid fisherman and elk hunter, which he continued well into his 80's. He was well liked, loved, and respected.
