Mass of Christian Burial for Nilda LaVerne Elizondo, 81 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Eugene Catholic Church with Father Chris Tran officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in The Chapel of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Nilda was born on August 11, 1933 to Verner H. and Millicent (Lickenbaugh) Swartling in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at her home in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Nilda was raised in Pittsburgh, attended school and graduated from St. George High School in 1952. She has lived in Weatherford since 1976. She worked for Southwestern Oklahoma State University until her retirement in 1995. Nilda and Daniel were married on December 27, 1986. They made their home in Weatherford. Nilda had a great love for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed visiting her one daughter Christy Segress and husband Stan and her two precious grandchildren, Megan and Austin. She loved to dance and travel. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
Nilda is survived by her husband, Daniel of the home in Weatherford, OK; one daughter, Christine Segress and husband Stan of Columbia, Missouri; two grandchildren, Megan Kneipp and husband Tom of Waynesville, Missouri and Austin Bates of San Diego, California; one sister, Gloria Maroney and her husband Clair of Miamisburg, Ohio; and many loving cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Verner and Millicent Swartling.
