Funeral: 2:00 PM Friday, April 29th, 2016First United Methodist Church

Funeral services for Nelson Siebert Unruh, 87 year-old Hydro, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, April 29, 2016, 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Uhlig officiating. Burial will follow in Hydro Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Nelson was born May 13, 1928, in Sickles, Oklahoma, to Victor and Thelma (Hageman) Unruh and passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, Oklahoma. Nelson was raised north of Sickles and attended school at Prairie Dale Rural School and graduated from Sickles High School in 1946. He moved to Arizona where he worked for a lumber company. In 1951, Nelson enlisted into the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He returned home to the Sickles area and farmed. On February 21, 1954, Nelson married Betty Smith at the Bethel Methodist Church and made their home south of Hydro where they raised their family. In 2000, they made the move into Hydro. Nelson enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and flowers, driving the tractor, and spending time with his family. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.

Nelson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Unruh of their home in Hydro, Oklahoma; two sons, Mike Unruh and wife, Rachel of Elk City, Oklahoma and Marlin Unruh and wife, Lisa of Hydro, Oklahoma; son-in-law, Paul Dougherty of Lawton, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; and twenty-five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leland; one sister, Margie; and one daughter, Michelle.
