Funeral services for Nelda M. Lewis, 79 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Earl Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery, south of Weatherford, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Nelda M. Lewis was born May 14, 1933 in Cordell, Oklahoma to L.C. and Vera (McCarley) Sanders and passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Oklahoma City Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Nelda was raised in Washita County and attended school at Cloud Chief, Dill City and graduated from Colony High School in 1951. She married Bob Lewis February 9, 1951 and they made their home in Borger, Texas where she graduated from Frank Phillips University and later taught art. She and Bob owned and operated a fence company in Texas for 17 years. In 1969, they moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma and for the next 30 years continued in the fence industry owning and operating Southwest Fence Company. Nelda enjoyed bird watching, painting with water colors, oils and other mediums, reading and making everyone feel like they were on top of the world. Her family and her Lord were her life. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church.

Nelda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bob Lewis of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; two daughters, Bobbie Tippens of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Celia Scott and husband, Gerry of Del City, Oklahoma; six brothers and sisters; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson in infancy.
