Funeral services for Myrtle Dorris Hagerman, 89 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, April 4, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church with Earl Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Mulberry Cemetery in Sweetwater, Oklahoma, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Myrtle was born May 8, 1924 in Barnesville, Georgia to Robert Lee and Eula Mae (Stewart) Shockley and passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Weatherford Regional Hospital in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Myrtle was raised and attended a rural school southeast of Barnesville, Georgia and graduated from Gordon Military School in 1941. She worked for Carter Garment Co., and later Reynolds Corp. making ammunition during the war, and as a beautician. On June 1, 1942, Myrtle married Orville Hagerman in Barnesville, Georgia and made her home in Wellington, Texas with family and she took care of her mother-in-law. In 1947, they moved east of Sweetwater where they farmed and raised their 6 children before moving to Weatherford in 1972. Myrtle worked as a dorm parent and cook for 15 years with Southwestern State College before retiring in 1987. She enjoyed crocheting, watching the Braves and Thunder play, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and attending their school activities. Myrtle was a member of the First Baptist Church in Weatherford since 1972. Memorials may be made to the Relay for Life.
Myrtle is survived by two sons, Robert Butch Hagerman and wife, Joan of Sweetwater, Oklahoma and Clifford Hagerman and wife, Pamela of Canute, Oklahoma; four daughters, Kay Macklin of Erick, Oklahoma, Orvilla Schantz and husband, Stanley of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Dianna Mosburg and husband, John of Sayre, Oklahoma, and Brenda Johnson of Weatherford, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; and forty-one great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers; one sister; two sons-in-law, Jerry Johnson and Clifford Macklin; two grandsons, Robbie and Heath; one granddaughter, Ashleigh; and two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Karissa Hagerman.
