Mona Marie Sims was born October 23, 1950, in Waynoka, Oklahoma to Burrel and Dorothy (Hernden) Johnson and passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at Corn Heritage Village of Weatherford, at the age of 67 years, 8 months, and 20 days.

Mona was raised in Waynoka and attended school at Rose Valley School and graduated from Waynoka High School in 1968. On September 28, 1968, she married Tommy Sims and they made their home in Alva. Mona went to cosmetology school. In 1972, they moved to Weatherford and she owned and operated the Sonic Drive-in from 1972 to 1989. Mona started working at the Weatherford Police Department in 1990 serving as a 911 Dispatcher and retired in 2014. Mona enjoyed sporting events, traveling, church activities, Nina's Angels with the Southwest Playhouse; and spending time with family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Mona is survived by four sons, Todd Sims of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Travis Sims and wife, Karrin of Gotebo, Oklahoma, Thad Sims of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Toby Sims and wife, Shelly of Owasso, Oklahoma; one daughter, Toni Knisley and husband, Kevin of Clinton, Oklahoma; one brother, Bobby Johnson and wife, Juanita of Amorita, Oklahoma; one sister, Rebecca King and husband, Larry of Enid, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild with another one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack Johnson and Kenneth Johnson; one sister, Mary Lockhart; and one grandson, Brody Gene Sims.
