Kent was born on June 23, 1935 in Fay, Oklahoma to Hubert and Lola (Frans) Kirkpatrick, and he passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford, Oklahoma having reached the age of 83 years, 9 months 13 days.
He was raised southeast of Fay and attended the Fay School, graduating in 1953. After high school he started college to play basketball at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. After two weeks, Kent's father became ill and he had to return home to help on the family farm. He married Gene Widney on March 31, 1956 and they made their home Southeast of Fay, where they also became parents to their four children. Kent and his brother Dale Kirkpatrick partnered together for 37 years farming and doing bulldozing work. Kent was very active in farming and ranching. He was also involved in the oil field in all related areas. In 1970, he and Gene became guardian parents of their two nieces. Combined with his own children, he had 6 children in 5 consecutive grades in school. Kent enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying and traveling, and was very active in going to his grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities.
Kent is survived by two sons, Brett Kirkpatrick and his wife Kathy, of Thomas, Oklahoma; Greg Kirkpatrick and his wife Leah, of Waxahachie, Texas; two daughters, Kari Didier and her husband Chris, of Fay, Oklahoma; Beth Switzer and husband Kent, of Thomas, Oklahoma; Kent had 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gene, his two brothers, Wayne and Dale, and his two guardian nieces Joani (Blair) Kellner and Linda Blair.
