Michael Lynn
Waters
February 7, 2016
Memorial services for Michael Lynn Waters, 66 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016, 2:00 P.M. at the Church of Christ with Don Wilson and Mike Propps officiating. Burial will follow in Poage Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Mike, as he was known to all, was born October 23, 1949, in Butler, Oklahoma to Edd and Crelva (Stigleman) Waters and passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016, at the Weatherford Living Center, after an eight month battle with cancer. Mike was the youngest of three by several years and the only boy, so of course was quite spoiled, mainly by his sisters. He graduated high school in Sayre, Oklahoma and went on to receive a degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. After college, Mike started his career by teaching high school in Carter and then in Clinton for a few years before going to work at 3M manufacturing plant in Weatherford in 1976. On February 26, 1988, he married Shirley Rhoads in Denison, Texas and made their home in Weatherford. Mike stayed with 3M through its later incarnations as Ferrania and Imation until 2012, when he went to work for Bar S Foods in Elk City, Oklahoma. He retired in 2013 to start a second career working for his wife, Shirley, in her quilting business and said that she was the toughest boss he ever had. In his time away from the job, Mike enjoyed working on cars, photography, quilting, and rebuilding antique sewing machines, but his greatest joy was playing with the grandkids.
Mike is survived by his wife of 28 years, Shirley Waters of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; daughters, Sylvia Waters of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Stephanie Morrow of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son, Robby Adams and wife, Tonya of Weatherford, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Emilee, Dillon, Reid and Rylee; two sisters, Rena Holland and husband, William of Jenks, Oklahoma and Laveta Rippetoe and husband, Joel of Sayre, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Ronny Rhoads and wife, Pam of San Antonio, Texas; and lots of extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Crelva Waters and a nephew, Anthony Holland.
