Obituary

Michael Aaron Rogers was born April 9. 1964, in Lordsburg, New Mexico, to Forrest G. Rogers and Elaine Lois (Ward) Brunnert and passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at home in Weatherford, at the age of 61 years and 20 days.

Michael was raised and attended school in Allison, Texas and later moved to Merritt, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Merritt High School in 1982, while simultaneously graduating from Vo Tech with an industrial electronics degree.  He received his bachelor degree from SWOSU in 1989 in general industry.  He worked for Innovative Technology doing computer repair before moving on to work in the oilfield.  Michael graduated Cleet school earning his Cleet Certification before working at the SWOSU Police Department.  While working at SWOSU, he met his wife, Christy Leanne Lambert in 1998. On May 27, 1999, they were married at Calvary Baptist Church.  In 2000, they moved to Roger Mills where he was Sheriff Deputy and later moved to Woodward holding the same position.  Michael worked in security in several different counties. In 2012, he became the Chief of Police in Cheyenne, Oklahoma and held that position until 2018, when he retired from Law Enforcement. Michael and Christy moved their family to Weatherford, where he worked was an inventory control manager at Miraclon until he retired due to his health in 2021. Michael loved spending time with his youngest son, family and friends, though being "Poppy", as his grandchildren called him, was his favorite role. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming, vacations, gardening and reading.  Michael will be remembered for never meeting a stranger because he could talk to anyone and could make you laugh.

Michael is survived by his wife of 25 years, Christy Rogers of their home; three children, Alec Rogers and fiancée, Shaylee Herbert, Candace Rogers and fiancée, Christ O'Canas and Logan Rogers; five grandchildren, Jennifer Herbert, Autumn Rogers, Tatum Rogers, Hadley Page and Judith O'Canas; and father-in-law, Charles Lambert and wife, Becky.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and step-father, Eugene Brunnert.
