Merle Wayne Bonner was born February 16. 1942, in Altus, Oklahoma to Robert and Nettie (Keller) Bonner and he passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years, 3 months, and 17 days.
Merle was raised and attended school in Gould, Oklahoma. He graduated from Gould High School and later earned his Bachelor Degree from Southwestern State College in Weatherford. On August 8, 1969 he married Nelda Spradlin and they made their home in Weatherford. Merle was director of Procurement and supply for the School of Pharmacy at SWSC, Supervisor of Custodians at SWOSU for twenty years and he also operated S&M Floor Maintenance for 50 years before retiring. He was a Little League coach, Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts, member of the first Rescue Unit, active in Kiawains, and a Mason. Merle also participated in Mission Trips to Beilze, Argentina, and South Dakota. He enjoyed woodworking, doing yard work and spending time with his grandkids. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Merle is survived by his wife Nelda of their home in Weatherford: two sons, Shawn Bonner and Duaina Megee of Weatherford their children Braylee and Brennlyn and Chris and his wife, Aida of San Antonio, Tx and children Shaydon, Gracin, Dimas, Daniel, and Julianna; a brother, Kenneth and his wife Sherry Bonner of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Dyanne and her husband Bill Holland of Altus, Oklahoma and Mary and her husband Earl Vanlandingham of Stephenville, Texas and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nettie Bonner and one brother, Royce Bonner.
