Obituary

Mary was raised on the family farm and attended her school years in Stafford, Oklahoma. She graduated as Salutatorian of her 1952 senior class.


Mary married Richard Butler in 1951. They moved to El Paso where Richard was serving in the Air Force. Sandra and Kathy were born during their time there. They later moved to Sentinel, Oklahoma and Janalyn and Susan were born during this time and they then moved to Weatherford. Mary was a homemaker and then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she earned a BS in Education at the age of 36. Mary taught in Weatherford schools for two years.


Mary was introduced to Wes Statser by their mutual friend, Judith Reeves, in September of 1972 and were married in December of that same year. When Wes proposed to Mary, he told her he would be moving out of state for work. Mary replied, "have suitcase, will travel". The two moved to Salt Lake City with their two youngest children in 1973. During their marriage they lived in Weatherford, Salt Lake City, Chicago, Washington DC, Keller Texas and returned full circle to Weatherford in 2010. Mary has resided in Corn nursing home for the last seven years.


Mary enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, and volunteer work. She had seven award winning quilts in the Custer County Fair. She had recipes published in the Salt Lake City Tribune. Her family loved her fried chicken, cinnamon rolls, snickerdoodles and chocolate chip cookies. Mary loved spending time with her family camping, summers at the swimming pool, and her travels with Wes.


Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Claiborn Frazier, a sister, Janice Dupree, sister-in-law, Glenda Stamp and brothers-in-law, James Dupree and Bill Schwartz. She is survived by her husband, George W (Wes) Statser; children, Kathy Butler Neufeld and husband Rodney of Custer City, Sandra Butler Teasley and husband Calvin of Weatherford, Rex Statser and wife Debbie of Yukon, Janalyn Butler Taylor and husband Joe of Clinton, and Susan Butler Rollins and husband Rick of Buda, Texas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sikes (Janell), Joshua Sikes, Jennifer Chancelor (Pat), Leslie Dozier, Craig Teasley (Leslie), Gretchen Price (Craig), Aaron Statser (Heather), Natalie Statser, Linsi Taylor Addington, Curtis Taylor (Kallie), Christopher Rollins (Anna), and Eban Rollins (Anna); sister, Kay Schwartz and sister-in-law Carol Pritchard (David); as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
