Mary Ann Branson was born in Ninnekah, OK on May 8, 1930, to Thomas and Lillie Mae (Goodnight) Petty and passed away Monday, March 2, 2020, at Maple Lawn Manor Nursing Center in Hydro, at the age of 81 years, 9 months, and 23 days.
Mary had six brothers, Oliver Kidd, Alton "Teter", Royce, Dwayne, Jerry, Pat and Jackie and three sisters, Bobbie Jean, Billie Jo "Sugar" and Charlene. She was raised and attended school in Cement and Velma Alma Schools.
In 1956, she would marry Robert Runnels in Lawton. They made their home in Lawton and had two sons, Robert Dwayne "Rusty" and Wesley Erwin "Dusty" while living there. They moved to Okemah where Billy Don was born and later lived in Garber, Clinton and Weatherford before settling in Hydro. They divorced in 1968.
Mary worked at the North Side Drug for several years and attended the Hydro Church of Christ with her three sons, who were all baptized in this church.
Mary was a Mom to a lot of boys in Hydro who were always at the house playing basketball or football in the yard. She loved her sons and their friends around the house.
Mary married Rex Branson in 1974. She would later become a fulltime housekeeper and nanny in Clinton and a caregiver later for Miss Minnie Hume. She took pride in everything she did, no matter what the job.
Raising three sons in the house she loved even more having three granddaughters to spoil and they loved their MAMA and spending time with her.
Mary loved country music and old western movies. Most of all she loved her family and loved every minute she could spend with any of them.
She would move to Maple Lawn Manor Nursing Center in 2011 where she loved playing dominoes and bingo. No matter when you went by, she was never in her room.
She was preceded in death by one son, Billy Don Runnels; husband, Rex Branson; parents, Tom and Lillie; brothers, Oliver Kidd Petty, Alton "Teter" Petty, and Pat Petty; sister, Bobbie Jean Kimbrough; and daughter-in-law, Tina (Henslee) Runnels.
Mary is survived by her sons, Rusty Runnels of Weatherford and Dusty Runnels and wife, Rhonda of Enid; three granddaughters, Misty Hall and husband, Sammy of Arapaho and their children: Jessie and Aden, Nikki Swaney and husband, Joe of Lindsay, TX and their children: Reagan and Wesley, Danielle Goodall and husband, Heath of Weatherford and their children: Tucker and Abby; daughter-in-law, Stacy Runnels of Weatherford and her son: Gordon Perry and wife, Jorden of Weatherford and their children: Afton and Jozie; brothers, Royce Petty and wife, Janelle of Oklahoma City, Jerry Petty and wife, Diane of Oklahoma City, Dwayne Petty and wife, Julene of Duncan, Jack Petty and wife, Stella of Oklahoma City; and two sisters, Billie Biffle of Marlow and Charlene Quaid and husband, Richard of Duncan.
