Ray
March 18, 2016
Funeral services for Mark Alan Ray, 59 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016, 1:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Earl Stephenson officiating. Services are under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Mark was the third child born to Fred and Angee (Bear) Ray on April 30, 1956, in Waco, Texas and passed away Friday, March 18, 2016, at home in Weatherford. The family moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico shortly after Marks birth. Mark lived his whole life, except one year in Alamogordo. As a young child, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He went to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he met Rhonda Englebright, of Carlsbad, New Mexico. While driving in the car to Glorieta New Mexico, he nonchalantly proposed with: Ive been thinking about marriage. They married on June 2, 1978, two weeks after graduation. They moved to Brownwood, Texas, so he could start work at 3M Company. In 1985, he transferred to 3M Company of Weatherford, Oklahoma. Later, 3M became Imation and he worked there 33 years, until the plant closed in 2011. After taking a few months off, he began working at First Baptist Church, where he has been a member since 1985, as the weekend door unlocker and locker. A big part of his life was his church and his faith in Christ. In December of 2011, he also started working at the church as the financial secretary. Mark was very diligent and worked to improve certain aspects of the job. Mark was a family man that enjoyed camping, fishing, and making flies for fishing. He also enjoyed coaching soccer with his son Adam. Mark always made time for a date with his wife Rhonda. He was friendly and made sure he helped people as much as he could. Mark was very servant-hearted. Memorials may be made out to Baptist Collegiate Ministries.
Mark is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rhonda Ray of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; son, Adam Ray and wife, Natalie of Lincoln, Nebraska; two brothers, Larry Ray of Albuquerque, New Mexico and David Ray and wife, Susan of Allen, Texas; in-laws, Clyde and Julia Englebright of Carlsbad, New Mexico; four nieces; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Angee Ray; both sets of grandparents; two infant sons, Philip and Kevin, and older sister, Rhonda Anne.
He leaves a message for us all: Be sure to make your peace with God today because it may be your last. None of us is guaranteed to have tomorrow on this Earth.
