Graveside services for Marcus Franklin Smith, 65 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Hinton Cemetery with John Gable officiating, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Marcus was born July 27, 1948 in Hinton, Oklahoma to Marshall and Emma Lorene (Mauldin) Smith and passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at the VA Hospital Clinton Division in Clinton, Oklahoma. Marcus was raised and attended school in the Hinton area and graduated from Hinton High School in 1966. He was very active and excelled in sports during his school years. Marcus enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1971 after serving on the USS Henderson. After returning from the service he earned a Bachelor Degree in Sociology from Southwestern State College. On May 13, 1972, he married Patricia Bartel in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Marcus worked for the Department of Human Services in the Anadarko area. He enjoyed sports.

Marcus is survived by one daughter, Celeste Combs and husband, Richard of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two brothers, Harlan Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Travis Smith and wife, Cherril of Weatherford, Oklahoma; three sisters, Minnalee Stewart of Yukon, Oklahoma, June Arnold and husband, John of Hinton, Oklahoma, and Joy Miller and husband, Wayne of Hinton, Oklahoma; and two grandsons, Daniel and Lonnie Smith-Combs. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marsha; and nephew, Dusty Smith.
