Madeline Dawn Sankey was born May 17, 1976, in Clinton, to Byron and Celeste (Heap of Birds) Sankey and passed away Friday, October 18, 2024, in Roswell, NM at the age of 48 years, 5 months, and 1 day.  Madeline was raised and attended school in Thomas and Oklahoma City, OK. She was a member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes.  Madeline was blessed with five children, Ambrose, Isaac, Paulino, Xavier and Shonda. She moved to Roswell in 2008 to make her home and returned to Oklahoma City in 2024 to be close to her mother. Madeline enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts and beadwork. She was known for her big heart and her very loud bark.

Madeline is survived by her mother, Celeste Medicine Bird of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Shonda Sankey of Canton, OK; three sons, Ambrose Cannon of Ethatee, WY, Isaac Sankey of Oklahoma, and Paulino Marquez-Hernandez of Oklahoma City, OK; one brother, Overton Sankey of El Reno, OK; and one granddaughter, Evers Sankey.  She was preceded in death by her father, Byron; one son, Xavier; one sister, Jesse Ada Sankey; and grandparents, Alfrich and Joyce Heap of Birds and Warren and Olive Sankey.
