Mack
Barnes
April 29, 1942 – November 23, 2020
Mack Barnes was born on April 29, 1942 in Colony to Stewart and Olive (Gyles) Barnes and with his family by his side, went to be with our Lord on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 8:25 p.m. in Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, at the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 24 days.
Mack was raised on the family farm, 4 miles north of Colony. He was the ninth child of ten. Mack loved working on the farm and worked with several farmers around the surrounding area. He graduated from Colony High School in 1960, where he fell in love with the love of his life of 60 years, Sharon Kidd. Mack and Sharon married December 11, 1959, in Wheeler, TX by the Justice of the Peace. Sixty years later, December 14, 2019, they renewed their marriage vows, before family and friends at Grace Assembly of God, in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Before leaving Colony, Mack and Sharon had their first son, Curtis. Following family advice, they packed their belongings and moved to Lancaster, TX. There he added two more sons, Jeffery and Aaron. With their family of five, he and Sharon decided to surrender to the Lord and in the very early morning hours, phoned a neighbor, Malcom Sanderson, to come pray with them. There in their home, Mack and Sharon gave their hearts to the Lord.
They moved to Duncanville, TX and put down deep roots of 35 plus years. Mack and Sharon attended Memorial Assembly of God. He served on the Board and was a Royal Ranger Commander for several years. Mack served on the Board at Abundant Life Assembly of God, in Grand Prairie, TX and Grace Assembly in Weatherford, OK. He loved serving the elderly. Mack loved working in his garden with his kids and especially loved for others to stop and visit, so he could visit, while watching his sons continue working. He never passed up an opportunity to stop and visit with friends.
Mack worked for Affiliated Food Store for several years, until the company closed. He continued in the printing business at Minyards, until retiring and moving to Colony.
Mack and Sharon moved back home to Colony to be near family and friends. He loved fishing, flowers, working outside, serving others, cooking meals, and having the entire family over to eat. He loved entertaining his grandkids and finding dumpster treasures with his two nieces, Elwinna and Lana.
Mack is survived by his three sons: Curtis and his wife Naomi, Jeffery and his wife Chaun and Aaron and his wife DeeDee; his sister Dixie and husband George; grandchildren: Kristen and Blake Branscum, Emily Barnes, Austin Otts, Ashley and Bill Conway, Stephanie and Jose Maldonado, Lacey and Jay Young; and several great-grandchildren.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents Stewart and Olive Barnes; his wife Sharon; and siblings: Goldie, Melvin, JD, Thelma, Cinda, Norma, Melissa, and Rex.
