Funeral services for Luevada Mae (Coffey) Otwell, 95 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Monday, February 22, 2016, 2:00 P.M. in The Chapel of Lockstone Funeral Home with Earl Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in Canton Cemetery in Canton, Oklahoma under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Luevada departed this life Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Weatherford Living Center, to join her heavenly Father; her husband, Monroe Marvin Otwell; her parents William Crantford and Rosy (Baker) Coffey; her sisters Gladys Coffey and Georgie (Coffey) Wilson; her brothers Erdie, Floyd, Virgil, and Santford Coffey, son-in-law Joe Johns; grandsons Kevin and Kendall Otwell; and great-grandson Kevin Joseph Otwell.
Luevada was born November 7, 1920, in Blaine County, Oklahoma. She lived in the Canton area, and attended Canton School through the 8th grade. On January 2, 1936, Luevada married Monroe Otwell, and together they raised two children, Kenneth, born in 1938, and Glenna, born in 1943. Luevada and Monroe made their home in the Canton area until 1984, when they moved to Weatherford where they resided until their passing. Luevada was a homemaker throughout her married life, but also held some part time jobs, including working at Pennells Laundry and the Canton Post Office. She became a Christian at an early age, her church was always an important part of her life, and she served faithfully in her church at Canton in several capacities, including as church secretary for many years. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford.
Luevada is survived by a son Kenneth Otwell and wife Lois of Kansas City, Missouri, a daughter Glenna Johns of Weatherford, Oklahoma; three grandchildren Kelly (Otwell) Persinger and husband Darryl of Kansas City, Traci (Johns) Brownen and husband Richard, and Darren Johns of Weatherford, eight great-grandchildren Sarah Briscoe, Jamie Tennyson, Rachel Skaggs, Lacey and Tiffany Persinger of Kansas City, Trevor, Trent, and Terin Brownen of Weatherford, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
Luevada was a very kind, loving person who was devoted to her family. She will be remembered and missed by her friends and relatives who have cherished the time they spent with her and will think of her and speak of her often.
The family would like to thank Pastor Stephenson for his visits to Luevada and also Dr. Kim Arganbright, The Weatherford Living Center, and Peggy and Bob Patee of Briarwood Guest Home, who have each provided compassionate care for Luevada during the past number of years.
