Luann Payne
Bond
May 31, 2017
Funeral services for LuAnn (Payne) Bond will be held Monday, June 5, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church, Weatherford, Oklahoma, with Pastor Earl Stephenson officiating. All are welcome to join us in celebrating LuAnns life. Burial will follow in Poage Cemetery, northeast of Colony, Oklahoma, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
LuAnn died peacefully after a short illness on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Weatherwood Assisted Living in Weatherford, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 9 months, and 1 day. Her devotion to her family and faith in God supported her and ultimately gave her peace.
LuAnn was born on August 30, 1932 in Colony, Oklahoma to Jennie Grace Parks Payne and William Arthur Payne. She graduated from Colony High School in 1950 and married Othal Bond that same year. They lived in Weatherford and Canute for short periods before making their home on their farm one mile east of Colony, Oklahoma. After Othals death in 2008, LuAnn moved to her home in Weatherford, Oklahoma before spending her last years at Weatherwood Assisted Living, where she was very happy and made many new friends.
Her children will forever remember her as a mother who always worked very hard to care for her home and her family. Her work ethic and dedication to others began at an early age working with her father and siblings in the Payne Brothers Store in Colony. LuAnns true labor of love was working outdoors, lovingly maintaining her yard and flowerbeds. She grew huge vegetable gardens most years of her life, keeping her own freezers stocked year around, but also giving much of it away.
LuAnn accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age. She was a charter member of the Colony Baptist Church, where she spent decades teaching children during both Sunday school and Wednesday nights. For the past twenty years she has been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Weatherford, where she continued her love for and dedicated service to the Lord.
LuAnn is survived by her children, Dr Trudy Bond of Toledo, Ohio; Teresa Bond and husband Dr. Dean Drooby, of Edmond, Oklahoma; Tammie Jones and husband Keevin, of Colony, Oklahoma; and Shane Bond of Weatherford, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Alan Jones, Jacob Bond, Jennifer Drooby, Michael Drooby, and Logan Bond; and six great-grandchildren, Micah, Megyn, and Melyssa Jones, Ethan, Cecilia, and Isaac Bond; sister-in-law Eula Faye Payne of Weatherford, Oklahoma, close niece Charlene Treadaway Slatton of Cordell, Oklahoma and many other loved nieces and nephews. LuAnn was preceded in death by her infant son, Mark Allen Bond; her husband, Othal Lilburn Bond; both parents, sister, Opal Payne Treadaway and brother, Zane Payne. Please make memorials to the Texarkana Baptist Childrens Home, PO Box 611, Texarkana, Texas 75504, or online at https://www.baptistkids.org/.
The family would like to thank all the staff and caregivers at Weatherwood Assisted Living for their care during her years there.
