Lois Lucille
Lenaburg
November 8, 1925 – April 14, 2022
Lois Lucille Lenaburg was born on November 8, 1925 to C.F. Winn and Gertrude (Blankenship) Winn in Watonga, OK. She was the second of nine children (Clemon, Naomi, Ray, Margaret, Bill, Floyd, Wayne, and John). Being the oldest girl, Lucille helped to raise her younger brothers and sisters. Their family resided in the Hinton area, where she graduated from high school. On February 19, 1946, she was married to Herbert H. Lenaburg, of Lookeba. They enjoyed 56 years together and had two daughters, Sharon and Linda.
The couple started out farming, but Herb soon felt called to become a medical doctor. He, Lucille, and their two small girls, moved to Shawnee where he attended OBU. The family also attended the Baptist Church located across from campus. After three years, the family relocated to Oklahoma City, where Herb attended the OU School of Medicine, and the family became members at the First Baptist Church in downtown Oklahoma City. Upon graduation in 1962, Herb, Lucille, and their family moved to Mangum. Herb established a family practice, which he continued for the next 20 years. The family became active members of the First Baptist Church of Mangum, where Lucille helped to organize their annual Vacation Bible School. She served on the Mangum Beautification Committee, and also contributed handmade afghans to the annual Cancer Bazaar, at which she worked. Lucille was very particular, and felt the need to keep her home immaculate and her yard in pristine condition. She worked very hard at this, and received many well-deserved compliments!
In 1982, Herb decided to slow down. He moved his practice to Granite, where he and Lucille built a new home. They became active members of the Granite First Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with Linda and Dean, and granddaughters (Marisa and Tressa) – attending gymnastics meets, ballgames, stockshows, and various other school activities. They also enjoyed traveling to visit Sharon and Gary, and grandsons (John and Nathan) in Boliver, MO, and later in Dallas, TX and Wake Forest, NC. Lucille remained in Granite until 2009, when she moved to Abingdon, VA, where Sharon and Gary looked after her. She drew joy from visits and phone calls from her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren (David, Benjamin, Annabella, Gabriel, Trenton, Ryman, Lincoln, and Oaklyn), as well as from her brothers and sister.
Lucille enjoyed 96 years of life. She passed away peacefully as she slept in her own bed, in her own home, on April 14, 2022.
Lucille is survived by her brothers: Ray Winn (of Olive Branch, Mississippi), Bill and wife Wynona Winn (of Claremore, OK), Floyd and wife Jean Winn (of Edmond, OK), Wayne and wife Alice Winn (of Stratford, OK), and John and wife Sheryl Winn (of Weatherford, OK); brother-in-law J.R. Weathers (of Hinton, OK); daughters Sharon and husband Dr. Gary Galeotti (of Wake Forest, NC), and Linda and husband Dean Graumann (of Granite, OK); grandsons Dr. John and wife Amanda Galeotti (of Pittsburgh, PA) and Nathan Galeotti (of Wake Forest, NC); granddaughters Marisa and husband Kevin Calhoun (of Granite, OK) and Tressa and husband Kyle (of Edmond, OK); great grandchildren David, Benjamin, Annabella, and Gabriel Galeotti, Lincoln and Oaklyn Calhoun, and Trenton and Ryman Brewer; a host of nieces and nephews; and her much-loved and loving cat, "Frisky."
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. Herbert Lenaburg; sisters Naomi Bright and Margaret Weathers; brother Clemon Winn; sisters-in-law Mildred Winn, Loretta Winn, and Cora Belle Lenaburg; brothers-in-law Vernon Lenaburg and Max Bright; nephew Scott Lenaburg; and nieces Beverly Kilburn and Pam Olstad.
