Funeral services for Lloyd Kenneth Simmons, 90 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn Brack officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Lloyd was born November 10, 1921 in Wichita, Kansas to Edward and Mame (Manley) Simmons and passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at home, surrounded by his family in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Lloyd was raised and attended school in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Wichita North High School in 1939. He attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma for two years and in 1942 joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. Through his service time he was in the Pacific Theater and was a PBY pilot. Upon returning he worked for wholesale grocery business and in 1964 opened Simmons Grocery which he owned and operated for 15 years. Lloyd was also active in rental property and farming. On November 12, 1977, he married Yvonne Berk Ferguson in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He and Woodie Sylvester opened an oilfield factoring business. Lloyd enjoyed Bob Wills country music, collecting Jeeps, traveling to New Mexico and Colorado, collected coins and guns, and all types of aviation. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Yvonne Berk Simmons of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma three step-sons, Dennis Ferguson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brian Ferguson of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Troy Ferguson of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren, Tara, Colin, Connor, Mia, and Mylie. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Velma; and one son, Lloyd Kenneth Simmons, Jr.
