Obituary

Lawrence James Wilmeth Sr. (Larry), 72, passed away on July 18, 2026. He was born on May 10, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Marilynn (Small) and Leo Wilmeth Jr.

Larry served state-side in the Air Force from 1974 to 1975.

He obtained his degree in Mortuary Science from Dallas Mortuary School. He was a funeral director and was certified with the Oklahoma State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. He was instrumental in the Oklahoma City Bombing with the Oklahoma Funeral Director Association.

Larry later transitioned to the field of corrections. He worked for Texas Department of Criminal Justice, as well as Corrections Corporation of America, making his way up the ladder to Chief of Security.

He later worked for the State of Oklahoma at the Port of Entry as an Oklahoma Corporation Commission Officer.

Larry's most recent proud moment was when he was elected as Resident Council President at the Clinton Veteran's Center.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Scott, and sister Lisa.

Survivors include his wife Vicki and sons Caleb and Alex of the home, daughter Brianne Tamplen and spouse Jennifer of Amarillo, TX, son Lawrence Wilmeth Jr. (Jimi) and spouse Meghan of Amarillo, TX, brothers Mike and John, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, 3 great granddaughters, and his aunt Andra Sherrill.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
